Paralegal / Legal Assistant The candidate will be responsible for: performing potential client intake interviews; working directly with existing clients to understand their injuries and the course of their medical treatment; requesting and obtaining client medical records by working with our dedicated medical records clerk on staff; providing administrative and secretarial support to the firm's three attorneys; shared responsibility for answering the telephone and routing calls; working cases up for mediation and settlement efforts, including assisting with drafting demand letters and mediation statements; drafting and responding to discovery; participating in drafting complaints and case management statements; preparing for and participating in arbitrations and trials; calendaring legal deadlines; managing the firm's electronic filing system; e-filing documents with the court; and writing checks using Quickbooks and tracking of firm expenses to assist the firm's professional bookkeeper. Must have strong computer skills, and good writing and telephone communication skills. Must have strong experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with calendaring and/or law firm management software programs and Quickbooks or other accounting software is helpful. Should have 4-5 years of personal injury litigation experience, preferably representing plaintiffs or consumers. Must be recent college graduates with a strong academic record. Some previous law office work experience is preferred.
