Job Responsibilities:
The role of a Technology Specialist or Patent Agent in the law firm's Intellectual Property Department involves significant responsibility and opportunities for career development. The primary responsibilities include:
- Preparing and prosecuting patent applications, particularly in the fields of molecular biology, immunology, immuno-oncology, genetics, and agricultural biotechnology.
- Working closely with partners and associates to gain a depth of experience in patent strategy, drafting, prosecution, and diligence matters.
- Engaging in immediate client contact to foster strong client relationships and to provide exceptional legal solutions.
- Collaborating with a diverse team in a mutually respectful and intellectually rigorous environment to deliver bespoke legal advice.
Education and Experience Information:
Applicants for this position must possess the following educational and experiential qualifications:
- A . in biochemistry, molecular biology, or immunology.
- Strong academic credentials and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Both entry-level and experienced candidates are considered, though experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the relevant scientific areas is particularly useful.
- Candidates who are not registered patent agents are expected to take and pass the USPTO registration exam within a year of their start date. It is encouraged to review the USPTO eligibility criteria prior to applying.
Salary Information:
The compensation for this position is set within a range of $160,000 to $180,000, which is commensurate with related experience and qualifications. The salary for the selected candidate will be determined based on various factors, including internal equity, experience, specialty, and training. This represents the law firm's reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting.
