Job Title: Workers' Compensation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Workers' Compensation Paralegal at the law firm is responsible for providing paralegal support to attorneys handling a high volume of workers' compensation cases. The role involves both administrative and substantive legal work, ensuring efficient case management. Key responsibilities include:
- Documenting and presenting legal research and related information to supervising attorneys promptly.
- Utilizing technical skills to conduct legal research and perform other legal tasks, with proficiency in software such as Microsoft Suite for organizing and maintaining legal documents.
- Developing good relationships with clients and professionals to make clients comfortable sharing personal case information.
- Managing multiple cases in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines, requiring excellent organizational skills.
- Conducting legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and articles.
- Meeting target billable hour requirements of 100 hours per month.
- Coordinating Independent Medical Examinations to assist with the defense of claims.
- Analyzing legal documents and ensuring their accuracy.
- Assisting attorneys with the defense of workers’ compensation claims.
- Managing billable time entries daily.
- Communicating professionally and tactfully with clients, insurance companies, medical providers, and attorneys to relay information and defend claims.
- Collecting and analyzing documents and information to assist with litigation.
- Maintaining confidentiality of client information in accordance with firm policies.
- Preparing pertinent documents and substantive correspondences.
- Providing status reports and recommendations to attorneys throughout all stages of litigation.
- Saving all emails, documents, and filings in the document management system.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Workers' Compensation Paralegal position are required to have:
- An Associate’s degree or higher.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience, with paralegal certification preferred.
- Experience in Workers’ Compensation is preferred.
- Strong communication skills in English for clear information exchange.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- The ability to observe and assess data and documents both in printed form and on computer screens.
- A willingness to work beyond normal hours.
- A team-oriented approach with the ability to work independently within general guidelines and minimal supervision.
- The ability to respond and maintain confidentiality in handling information or adversarial inquiries.
Salary Information:
The position offers an hourly salary and bonus opportunity, with the hourly salary range for this position being to . Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
