The Department of Social Services' Office of Legal Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join their team as an Attorney II. This position offers the opportunity to provide legal guidance and representation in state and federal courts to ensure the delivery of social services in accordance with laws and regulations.

Salary Range and Job Description:

- Salary range for this position is $78, - $89,
- The Attorney II will work towards establishing paternity and child support orders in family court
- Under general supervision, the Attorney II will perform sophisticated legal work in the Office of Legal Affairs

Responsibilities:

- Provide legal assistance by researching and interpreting laws and regulations related to the delivery of services
- Draft legal documents and represent the Commissioner in judicial proceedings
- Negotiate on behalf of the Agency and conduct legal discovery
- Provide guidance and training to other staff members

Minimum Qualifications:

- Must be admitted to the New York State Bar
- One year of US legal experience or six months as an Agency Attorney Interne
- Must remain a member of the New York State Bar in good standing

Preferred Skills:

- Prior litigation experience
- Strong oral and written advocacy skills
- Experience in Child Support or Family Law
- JD required, NYS Bar admitted or pending admission after passing NYS Bar exam
