Job Title: Associate Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
The Associate Attorney will handle a substantial caseload involving personal injury, construction defect liability, trucking/auto, products, and premises liability. Under the direction of a partner, the responsibilities include:
- Drafting, preparing, and handling pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda
- Drafting and responding to written discovery and dispositive motions
- Conducting legal research competently and with proficiency
- Preparing and taking depositions of parties and experts
- Reviewing client documents, drafting case evaluations, and status report correspondence
- Assisting with and participating in mediations and court appearances
- Attending informal and formal hearings at the Workers’ Compensation Commission
- Interacting directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff
Education and Experience Information:
- The candidate must have ten years of civil litigation experience and a history of academic success.
- Must be licensed to practice in Texas courts; additional court admissions are preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- The ability to proactively work independently and as part of a team
- Strong legal research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with superb organization and prioritization skills
- Ability to move from case to case
- Knowledge of both state and federal court procedures
- Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and navigating the internet
