Job Title: Intellectual Property Patent Agent (Electrical, Software or Computer Science)
Job Responsibilities:
The Intellectual Property Patent Agent role at the law firm involves engaging in all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, particularly in technologies related to electrical engineering, computer engineering, and computer science. There is a preference for candidates with experience in drafting and prosecuting patents in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. The position requires the candidate to collaborate effectively within a client-focused, team-oriented environment.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Patent Agent position must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of two years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to these technologies. Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is a mandatory requirement for this role. Preferred candidates will exhibit excellent academic credentials and demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
Salary Information:
The anticipated initial annual salary range for this position is between $110,000 and $180,000. The actual initial salary will depend on the candidate's relevant skills, training, experience, and other job-related factors, including the location of the position, in accordance with applicable law. This salary range is part of the law firm's comprehensive compensation and benefits package for attorneys, which also includes productivity and discretionary bonuses, life, health, accident and disability insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
Additional Information:
The law firm is seeking a motivated individual to join its Intellectual Property group in one of its multiple offices, including Chicago, Denver, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Washington DC, or Wilmington.
