Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Washington, DC, is seeking a Technical Advisor to support its Patent Prosecution & Litigation practice group, specifically within the Electrical Engineering & Software team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields to contribute to high-impact work in patent law, with a focus on the evolving technologies in wireless communication systems.

Duties:

  • Support the preparation and prosecution of patent applications related to electrical engineering and software technologies.
  • Assist with the analysis of technical aspects of patents in the context of patent litigation and prosecution.
  • Guide emerging technologies, including wireless communication systems and related standards.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and other professionals to develop patent strategies.
  • Review and summarize technical documents and communicate findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to research on patent trends and technological innovations in electrical engineering and software.

Requirements:

  • Strong technical background with a . in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • No prior intellectual property experience is required; training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of wireless communication technologies, including 5G, 6G, and 3GPP standards is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Team-oriented with a proactive attitude toward collaboration.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Skills:

  • Technical expertise in electrical engineering, computer science, or software.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex technical and legal documents.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies (5G/6G) and related standards is highly desirable.
