Job Title: Senior Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Paralegal is responsible for providing comprehensive support to attorneys and other staff across various practice areas, focusing primarily on litigation. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating, organizing, preparing, and interpreting complex legal documents under attorney supervision.
- Directing workflow on various cases by coordinating with attorneys and paralegal Is.
- Supervising paralegal Is, providing assistance and guidance as needed.
- Reviewing and maintaining documents and case files, and compiling documents for court and agency filings.
- Conducting electronic document reviews and managing document productions with attorneys, including searches of production databases for relevant documents and other eDiscovery tasks.
- Assisting with drafting discovery, pleadings, and status reports.
- Organizing and conducting case-related team meetings when necessary.
- Reviewing and drafting summaries of discovery responses, document productions, and relevant records.
- Assisting with the preparation and review of materials for court hearings and depositions.
- Attending client meetings, conference calls, and other case-related meetings alongside attorneys.
- Conducting legal research and document review, performing factual research in internal and external databases and libraries.
- Reviewing and processing vendor invoices for accuracy.
- Coordinating and preparing for trials, attending trials if necessary, and providing support to attorneys at court and agency hearings.
- Accurately documenting and billing for all billable work and tasks according to billing procedures and meeting annual billable hours requirement.
- Communicating and interacting with filing clerks, courtroom assistants, and calendar clerks.
- Liaising with outside vendors such as court reporters, experts, and mediators.
Education and Experience Information:
- At least 5 years of experience preferred, working as a paralegal, with a focus on litigation, labor and employment, personal injury, or construction defect cases.
- Proficiency in legal research, including familiarity with online databases and resources.
- Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, maintaining professionalism in client and colleague interactions.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and file management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficient in the use of third-party e-filing providers, such as One Legal, First Legal, Odyssey File & Serve, Green Filing, etc.
- Proficiency in the use of PACER and the federal Judiciary’s Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system.
Salary Information:
The salary for the Senior Paralegal position ranges from $32 to $45.
Additional Information:
The position is full-time and non-exempt, with an in-office work location, transitioning to a hybrid model after 90 days of employment. The work schedule is from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and holidays. Physical requirements include primarily sedentary work with some repetitive motion, and the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. The role requires close visual acuity for data preparation and analysis, transcribing, and extensive reading. The job involves 5-10% domestic travel by car and plane.
