Job Description

Position Overview:
The law firm is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant with experience in family law to support their practice on a part-time basis. This position requires the candidate to work from the office. The ideal candidate should be reliable, professional, and capable of managing a variety of administrative and legal support tasks with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and edit legal documents, including pleadings, declarations, and correspondence
- File documents with the court through the E-Portal
- Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel professionally
- Maintain and organize client files and case calendars
- Input time for billing
- Schedule appointments, hearings, and court dates
- Answer incoming calls and route them accordingly
- Assist with client acquisition

Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or legal secretary, with family law experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with court filing procedures and local rules
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and time management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software (such as Clio, MyCase, or similar)
- Familiarity with Lexis/Nexus and Family Law Software is a plus
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and provide professional references from previous law firms
