Position: Legal Assistant

Location: Florida (Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Boca)

Position Overview:

This opportunity is ideal for individuals with a strong work ethic, exceptional organizational skills, and strong attention to detail who wish to work in a growing defense litigation practice group. The position is hybrid, with offices available in Miami, Boca, Orlando, or Boca.

Job Requirements:

- Minimum of 2 years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in general liability or other civil defense litigation practice areas; prior insurance defense litigation experience is highly advantageous.
- Experience should include calendaring, docketing, interfacing with court personnel, opposing counsel, clients, and vendors, as well as drafting basic pleadings and legal correspondence.
- Basic knowledge of computer operations, internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software; Microsoft products are preferred. Ability to type and operate office equipment is necessary.
- Self-motivated and a self-starter.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and internal team members.
- Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy, proofreading, and editing legal documents for consistency and completeness.
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to undertake additional tasks as requested by the attorneys, contributing to the overall success of the team.
- An associate degree or bachelor's degree is a plus, but not required.

Job Responsibilities:

- Client billing and sending invoices.
- Making copies.
- Acting as the point of contact with vendors and the clerk of Court.
- Drafting simple legal documents such as discovery requests, notices, subpoenas.
- Organizing and filing documents, including pleadings and case materials.
- Managing calendars and scheduling appointments, meetings, and court dates.
- Answering phones, communicating with clients and other parties, and responding to emails.
- Gathering documents for a case/filing.
- Preparing documents for proceedings, such as trials and hearings.
- Coordinating with other professionals, such as expert witnesses and court reporters.
- Assisting with trial preparation, such as transporting exhibits and setting up equipment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems; experience with Clio is a plus.
