Job Responsibilities
The Network Engineer II at the law firm plays a crucial role in maintaining and advancing the network infrastructure. The responsibilities include:
- Leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of a complex network infrastructure to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Resolving critical network issues to maintain the stability and security of network services using advanced troubleshooting techniques.
- Engaging in network capacity planning, understanding network security principles, and adhering to general network management best practices.
- Overseeing the installation of new hardware and network systems and managing the upgrading of existing systems to meet evolving business needs.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Architecture and Design, Service Delivery, and Cyber teams, to ensure a cohesive and secure IT infrastructure.
- Mentoring network engineers and team members by sharing knowledge and promoting best practices in network administration and security.
- Keeping abreast of new technologies and network practices, evaluating their potential application within the organization.
- Performing other duties as needed, including installing and configuring networking hardware in a global environment, creating and implementing network security measures, managing and mentoring junior Network Engineers, scheduling and conducting regular network performance tests, performing networking maintenance tasks, dealing with escalated network support issues, and drawing up network status reports.
Education
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Science.
- 3+ years of Network Engineering experience.
Skills and Experience
Required
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in network engineering.
- Expertise in managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
- Excellent understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware, including experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and associated network protocols and concepts.
- Advanced knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
- Knowledge of Cisco Catalyst and Nexus device configuration.
- Cisco router configuration and hardening is a plus.
- Working knowledge of IP routing including routing protocols EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
- Experience with Cisco ISE based identity and access control.
- Experience with Cisco ACI and Cisco DNA is a plus.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, capable of working with other Network Engineers and projects.
- Understanding of network operating systems including Cisco, Palo Alto, and IOS.
- Experienced with communication and routing protocols.
- Familiarity with network analysis tools including Thousand Eyes, SolarWinds.
- High-level problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco network routers, switches, and firewalls for medium and large-size locations and enterprises, including Global Data Centers.
- Cisco certifications are a plus.
- Knowledgeable of Web Security Systems, Two Factor Authentication, SMTP Gateway servers, Cisco ASA and SSL VPN, Global Protect.
- Ability to support Site-to-Site VPN, Client VPN connectivity, SDWAN-Palo Alto IONS, and Cisco Enterprise Wi-Fi solutions.
Physical Demands
The role requires sedentary work, involving exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Environment
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as in typical office or administrative work (normal light, air, and space in the work environment).
Salary Information
For New York only, the estimated base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $175,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt, meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
