The Child Support Officer II-III position at the Office of the Attorney General is a full-time, regular position with a salary range of $45, - $49, per year, depending on experience and qualifications. The position is located in Dallas, Texas and is part of the Child Support Division. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in establishing paternity, obtaining court orders for financial support and health care coverage for children, and enforcing child support orders. The position also involves conducting detailed investigations to locate absent parents, responding to customer inquiries, and collaborating with state agencies and community organizations to serve Texas families.
The ideal candidate for this position should have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Candidates with experience in the Child Support Program, credit collections, investigations, legal assistance, legal secretarial work, customer service, or IV-A eligibility specialist may also be considered. They should also possess strong skills in interviewing, negotiating, word processing, and data entry, as well as basic mathematical computations. Effective oral and written communication, sound judgment, and decision-making skills are also important for this role.
The Child Support Officer II-III will be responsible for conducting in-office investigations to locate parties, verifying employment and determining assets, and preparing legal and administrative documents related to child support orders. They will also negotiate lump sum payments from noncustodial parents, monitor child support cases, and review cases for closure. Additionally, they will maintain knowledge of child support policies and procedures, as well as Texas Family Law and federal regulations. They will also serve as a Notary Public and perform other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate should be able to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines, while working cooperatively with others in a professional office environment. They should also be able to provide excellent customer service and work at the designated OAG work location, as well as travel up to 25% of the time. This position may require working more than 40 hours per week, and candidates should be able to lift and relocate up to 30 lbs. as needed. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
