Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Paralegal position at the law firm involves a diverse range of responsibilities that require a comprehensive understanding of legal processes and terminology. The paralegal will engage in case management from inception through discovery and verdict, ensuring that all legal procedures are meticulously adhered to. The duties include:
- Preparing, editing, and drafting various legal documents such as correspondence, reports, subpoenas, briefs, pleadings, and other filings in different state and federal courts.
- Planning and scheduling conferences, depositions, meetings, and maintaining calendars with court deadlines and appearances.
- Conducting thorough searches through computer databases like library, Secretary of State, PACER, SJIS, LEXIS, Internet, Autotrack, etc., and creating complex databases for documents.
- Preparing PowerPoint presentations and summaries and analyses of research and reports.
- Reviewing documents for privileged material and drafting discovery documents.
- Assisting with discovery matters and handling document productions.
- Performing legal searches and retrieving case law.
- Attending mediations, depositions, hearings, conferences, trials, and other court meetings as necessary.
- Proofreading documents and responding to inquiries for information.
- Collaborating with team members and working independently as required.
- Undertaking other responsibilities as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Litigation Paralegal position should possess a bachelor's degree, paralegal certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Essential qualifications include:
- Familiarity with State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, excellent writing skills, and the ability to draft documents independently.
- Experience in drafting and electronic filing of pleadings, motions, deposition scheduling and summarization, trial preparation, and legal research.
- Proficiency in using PACER, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other document management software.
- Preferred knowledge of e-discovery, Trial Director, and Relativity.
