Job Title: Immigration Paralegal (Multiple Offices - Hybrid)
Job Responsibilities:
The Immigration Paralegal will report to the Immigration Manager and is responsible for preparing and filing employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant matters. This includes handling H-1B, L-1, O-1 petitions, consular applications such as E-2s and DS-160s, Labor Certifications, I-140s, I-485s, and family-based petitions. The position follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence three days per week, and can be based in Miami, Nashville, Atlanta, or Washington, DC.
Key responsibilities include:
- Initiating cases based on instructions from attorneys and/or clients, conducting an initial evaluation of new cases to determine eligibility of foreign nationals, identifying any status issues, and escalating issues to attorneys as needed.
- Following up with clients to obtain necessary information and documents to initiate cases.
- Preparing immigration forms using the appropriate database and coordinating the immigration process, including obtaining necessary documents to support applications, which may include legal research.
- Coordinating with providers to obtain necessary translations of documents written in languages other than English or obtaining evaluations of educational documents for . equivalence.
- Preparing supporting documents to be filed with appropriate government agencies, such as the Department of Labor, Department of State, and USCIS.
- Coordinating with providers to process visas as appropriate, and in PERM applications, posting ads, monitoring run dates, and documenting when ads are posted and removed.
- Sending final documents for signature, preparing cover letters, and filing documents with appropriate agencies, with copies to foreign nationals and companies.
- Assisting attorneys in preparing responses to requests for evidence or audits by government agencies.
- Writing invitation letters or support letters for petitions as appropriate.
- Engaging in heavy client contact via telephone and email, including handling routine client inquiries under the supervision of immigration attorneys.
- Recognizing issues that need to be escalated to attorneys and exercising judgment regarding escalation.
- Managing cases to ensure they proceed through the system and conform with estimated processing times of government agencies.
- Managing cases for non-immigrant, PERM labor certification, immigrant petition, and adjustment of status.
- Running reports to monitor case status and expirations and contacting clients to initiate extensions where appropriate.
- Monitoring global cases to renew permits, track expirations, or repatriate clients.
- Updating foreign national immigration information in the database (INS Zoom) and maintaining files within the firm's standard.
- Recording tasks in INTAPP.
Education and Experience Information:
Applicants must have a minimum of 4+ years of corporate immigration experience. A four-year college degree is preferred, with an advanced degree in a related field or a paralegal certificate being highly desirable. Additionally, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and immigration case management software is required. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as excellent listening skills. A strong substantive understanding of legal requirements and supporting documentation for business immigration filings is essential. The role requires a self-starter focused on efficiency, with a strong sense of accountability for responsiveness and professional work product. The ability to prioritize work, adapt to change, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Good research skills and a commitment to promoting and supporting teamwork are also necessary. Certification: Paralegal Certificate or higher.
Salary Information:
Pursuant to Washington, . regulation, the hourly salary range for this position is to , contingent on relevant experience and education. The position also includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses. Law firm offers generous compensation and benefits packages.
