Job Title: Director of Litigation and E-Discovery

Job Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement the law firm’s litigation support and e-discovery strategy, focusing on preservation, collection, review, and production of electronically stored information (ESI). This includes making decisions on technology selection and workflow optimization.

- Consult with attorneys and clients to plan and implement e-discovery solutions for large litigation projects, which involves vendor selection and pricing negotiations.

- Lead training and education initiatives for paralegals, attorneys, and staff on litigation support software, AI-driven technology, search design, and litigation policies.

- Collaborate with litigation practice group leaders and the Chief Information Officer to identify tools that improve litigation support, ensuring that solutions are cost-effective and enhance productivity.

- Audit files across all offices to confirm adherence to Litigation Uniform Filing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinate training to ensure compliance.

- Work with the Paralegal Manager to ensure that paralegals are highly trained and competent in their roles.

- Participate in continuing legal education and training programs to remain current on developments in litigation practices and technology.

- Create and manage the Litigation Support budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

- Facilitate the migration of files for lateral hires and regularly review older cases to determine if they can be closed or removed from systems.

- Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the litigation team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Manage and develop the Litigation Support Department staff, which includes recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.

- Oversee the day-to-day workflow of the litigation support team, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently.

- Provide ongoing mentorship and guidance to paralegals and attorneys, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Expertise in litigation support software (including Reveal), AI technology, and the design of search terms.

- Proficiency in the collection and production of records, compliance with discovery obligations, and data preservation.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with legal teams, clients, and vendors.

- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.

- Proven leadership abilities with experience managing a team.

- Understanding of State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Management, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.

- A minimum of 10 years of paralegal experience, with at least 3 years in a litigation management role or a similar position, involving direct experience overseeing litigation support processes and teams.
