IP Trademark Docketing Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The IP Trademark Docketing Specialist is responsible for supporting attorneys and clients with trademark prosecution activities, ensuring accurate review and entry of correspondence, and managing case details and due dates in the law firm's docketing database. Key responsibilities include:
- Following firm procedures and risk management guidelines to perform complex duties.
- Analyzing, reviewing, and processing all domestic and foreign trademark correspondence, including communications from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Docketing USPTO and foreign trademark mail in the docketing system.
- Modifying, adding, and maintaining docket records.
- De-docketing pertinent deadlines and opening new matters.
- Creating, modifying, and generating docket and status reports.
- Processing incoming file transfers and generating daily dockets of deadlines to ensure compliance.
- Responding to requests from legal staff and other departments.
- Ensuring accurate entry and date calculation for case information, and completion and verification of daily PTO submissions.
- Communicating with attorneys and staff regarding pending action items, including appropriate follow-up.
- Handling special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the IP Trademark Docketing Specialist position should have:
- 2-4 years of trademark docketing experience, preferably with CPI.
- Working knowledge of trademark docketing procedures, including USPTO and foreign practices.
- Advanced knowledge of trademark docketing processes acquired through training, education, and several years of work experience in the IP field.
- Ability to adapt to changing responsibilities and circumstances.
- Capability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Professional conduct, service-oriented attitude, and acute attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- A Paralegal Certificate and/or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Salary Information:
The base salary ranges for the IP Trademark Docketing Specialist position vary depending on location. These ranges may not be applicable to other locations, and an individual's actual compensation will depend on their qualifications and experience. The base salary ranges are as follows:
