Billing Specialist

Job Responsibilities:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing all elements of the billing process for assigned clients and attorneys at the law firm. Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing billing procedures for assigned attorneys and coordinating daily billing operations.
- Ensuring accurate and timely processing of bills while monitoring changes in billing procedures and attorney responsibilities.
- Verifying that attorneys meet monthly billing responsibilities in line with clearing deadlines, and coordinating with them to address each aspect of their billing duties.
- Preparing bills from billing proforma, accounting for special billing arrangements, rates, and necessary adjustments, followed by sending final bills and related correspondence.
- Conducting audits for accuracy on each bill and preparing necessary transfers or write-offs with required approvals.
- Preparing Deferral Requests for attorneys as per billing guidelines and requirements, and obtaining billing review partner approval when necessary.
- Compiling Reports on Outstanding Invoices as per attorney instructions, drafting status descriptions for reporting, obtaining approvals, and submitting before the clearing deadline.
- Assisting Accounts Receivable by reviewing Statement of Accounts and providing current information for the Accounting Department's reminder notice process.
- Preparing additional billing details, breakdowns, and analyses as requested by clients, attorneys, or accounting personnel, and corresponding with client contacts.
- Maintaining billing records and offering follow-up assistance to attorneys, secretaries, and clients regarding billing-related inquiries or issues.
- Performing other duties as requested.

Education and Experience Information:
- High School diploma or . equivalent is required.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in billing or accounts receivable is necessary.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of personnel.
- Excellent customer service skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a large law firm.
- Familiarity with Elite/3E systems.
- Competency in 10-key by touch skills.
- Word processing experience.
- Experience working directly with clients.

Salary Information:
- For positions in Minnesota and Colorado, the pay range is to per hour.
- For positions in Seattle, the pay range is to per hour.
- This range is a good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will depend on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and location and may fall outside the indicated range.
