Job Title: Market Development Specialist – Asset Management & Investment Funds
Job Responsibilities:
The Market Development Specialist (MDS) is responsible for supporting business development programs and initiatives within the Asset Management & Investment Funds (AMIF) practice area of the law firm. Reporting to the Senior Market Development Manager, the MDS plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of firmwide and global AMIF practice area initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting the AMIF practice and its sub-groups in developing and implementing business and client development projects.
- Leading engagement and coordination for complex projects involving Centers of Excellence (COE) and support teams, including RFPs, events, sponsorships, and other market-facing opportunities.
- Supporting the Pitch & Proposal COE in creating proposal content, preparing RFP and pitch responses, and maintaining practice qualifications for new business.
- Conducting market research to maintain a strong knowledge of assigned practice/industry groups, including business trends and competitive landscape for legal services.
- Collaborating with Brand Marketing and Communications to ensure market-facing materials are relevant and accurate for clients and prospects.
- Serving as a key contact for large-scale nationwide and global practice event sponsorships and industry associations, assessing involvement to ensure full use of benefits and relationships.
- Undertaking other projects as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Market Development Specialist position are expected to possess the following education and experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, or communications.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in a law firm (preferred) or professional services organization.
- Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write and produce compelling proposals, collateral, research reports, and client-facing presentation materials.
- Strong people skills with a demonstrated service orientation.
- High level of professional maturity and confidence necessary to interact with sophisticated internal and external clients.
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet research tools, with CRM software knowledge being a plus.
- Demonstrated good judgment, decision-making, and follow-through capabilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects and meet deadlines.
- Outstanding attention to detail, flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as needed, and creativity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
Salary Information:
The compensation salary for the Market Development Specialist position ranges from $82,000 to $154,500 per year. The final salary will be determined during the interview process and will depend on various factors, including prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
Additional Abilities Required:
- Mobility within the office, including movement from floor to floor.
- Effective management and communication of confidential issues.
- Ability to operate in an office setting, which is largely sedentary, requiring routine use of a computer and other standard office equipment. This may also require the ability to open file cabinets, lift files, bend, and stand on a stool.
