Job Title: Legal Assistant

Job Responsibilities:
The Legal Assistant serves as a crucial liaison between the law firm and external attorneys or insurance companies. The primary responsibilities include directly working with attorneys to assist with ongoing cases and preparing them for trial if necessary. Legal Assistants are tasked with conducting fact-finding projects and maintaining all case files. Essential job functions include:
- Performing secretarial, clerical, and data entry duties.
- Managing documents using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
- E-filing legal documents in Illinois’ E-Portal System.
- Maintaining the attorney’s calendar.
- Scheduling depositions, pre-depositions, meetings, mediations, and hearings.
- Assisting attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences.
- Drafting legal court documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and subpoenas.
- Sending correspondence to parties/non-parties via email, regular mail, or certified mail.
- Communicating with clients.
- Setting up Court calls or Zoom for hearings.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must have a minimum of 2+ years of legal assistant experience, with a preference for those with first-party property or general litigation experience. Being bi-lingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Additionally, candidates should possess:
- Strong customer service skills.
- Experience with case management software.
- Experience e-filing in both state and federal courts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- The ability to manage a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills with clients and co-workers.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
