Experience:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Experience in child support program, credit collections, investigations, legal assistant, legal secretary, customer service, or IV-A eligibility specialist may be substituted for required education
- Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques
- Proficiency in Spanish preferred
- Ability to type 35 words per minute
- Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
- Ability to travel up to 15%
Child Support Officer II
- Conduct detailed investigations to locate absent parents, establish paternity, and obtain court orders for financial and health care support for children
- Monitor and enforce child support orders
- Collaborate with state agencies and community organizations to serve Texas families
- Maintain knowledge of child support policies and procedures, Texas Family Law, and federal regulations
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints
- Provide excellent customer service and impartially assess complaints against the IV-D program
- Work full-time with a healthy work-life balance and develop hands-on experience

- Conduct detailed investigations to locate absent parents and verify employment and assets
- Prepare legal and administrative documents to establish or enforce child support orders
- Negotiate lump sum payments and out-of-court settlements with noncustodial parents
- Monitor child support cases and refer delinquent cases for enforcement action
- Document all case actions using appropriate agency tools
- Review and maintain child support virtual files for accuracy
- Review cases for closure eligibility
- Attend court to assist legal staff
- Research case information using computer systems
- Maintain knowledge of child support policies and procedures, Texas Family Law, and federal regulations
- Explain Child Support Program policies, procedures, and regulations to customers
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints
- Serve as Notary Public
- Maintain relevant knowledge to perform essential job functions
- Work full-time with a healthy work-life balance
- Comply with all agency policies and procedures, including ethics and integrity
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
