Law Firm Seeking Experienced Litigation Paralegal for Education Law Practice Group in Raleigh, NC
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications
Job Title: Litigation Paralegal - Education
Experience: 5+ years in busy litigation practice
Location: Raleigh, Charlotte, or Wilmington (remote work possible for right candidate)
Qualifications:
- 4 year degree or Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program, or at least 10 years' experience as a paralegal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a minimum typing speed of 50 wpm
- Knowledge of NetDocuments and Aderant preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Prior experience in North Carolina litigation preferred
- Familiarity with NC and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Rules of Evidence
Expectations:
- Regular attendance 5 days per week on time
- Accurate work product
- Record 100 or more billable hours per month
Essential Functions:
- Record billable time in time and billing system
- Draft correspondence, case status reports, and budgets
- Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and releases
- Communicate with clients, insureds, opposing counsel, and others involved in cases
- Prepare information for experts and maintain records of the same
- Review and analyze documents for confidentiality, privilege, work product, and relevance
- Summarize depositions and discovery responses
- Organize and maintain case files
- Conduct online research
- Perform legal research and assist with preparation of briefs and exhibits
- Assist with preparations for hearings, mediations, and trials
- Maintain attorney deadlines and calendar
Responsibilities:
- Provide critical legal support to multiple attorneys in a fast-paced education law practice
- Manage deadlines in a high-volume environment
- Enhance attorney effectiveness by providing efficient and accurate paralegal support
- Conduct research, draft documents, and assist with case preparation
- Communicate with various parties involved in cases
Skills:
- Strong litigation experience, including case management and document preparation
- Keen attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and typing speed of 50 wpm
- Familiarity with NetDocuments and Aderant preferred
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, using initiative in all aspects of assignments
- Prior experience in North Carolina litigation a plus
Education Law Practice Group:
- Focuses on legal issues related to education, such as student rights, special education, discrimination, and school policies
- Provides legal support to educational institutions and students in navigating complex legal matters
- Requires strong litigation experience and knowledge of education law
Location:
- This position can be seated in Raleigh, Charlotte, or Wilmington
- Remote work is possible for the right candidate
