Immigration Paralegal
Job Responsibilities
- Draft petitions, waivers, Naturalization, Business visas, U visa, Vawa, T-visas, asylum, TPS, DACA, and removal defense paperwork with USCIS, US embassies, and immigration courts.
- Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings.
- Gather information about legal issues from the client through interviews.
- Coordinate law office activity, including drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers.
- Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer.
- Organize case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
Education and Experience Information
- Excellent organizational skills and time-management skills.
- 3+ years of legal service experience under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting.
- Talented communicator and writer.
- Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies.
- Bachelor’s degree desired.
- Completion of a nationally-accredited paralegal program is strongly preferred.
Salary Information
$6 - $10 hourly
