Part-time Nurse Paralegal The candidate will telephone intake calls or follow-up calls to screen cases for merit, . medical malpractice or nursing home abuse. Review records for presuit cases for merit. Identify additional records needed for cases or identify missing records. Sort or bookmark, review, summarize medical malpractice, and nursing home abuse cases and identify deponents. Identify failures or breaches in the standard of care for medical malpractice or nursing home abuse cases. License search and add employees to parties into case management system. Do chartings for staff deponents. Periodically do errors and omissions or special summaries or timelines . wound tracking, falls, events/procedures, pain, etc. Search for new experts and obtain CVs fee schedules. Prepare and send records, P&P, depos to expert paper or electronic. Follow up with experts a month after records are sent to set TC to discuss opinions of the case. Draft Notices of Intent for nursing home abuse cases and medical malpractice cases. Investigate treating or defendant physicians, corporations, for disciplinary actions, complaints, fines FL Dept of Insurance, ACHA DOH, Google. Search AHCA for nursing home surveys and complaint surveys. Assist with discovery: review incoming documents and responses from the defense and assist with plaintiff responses. Draft demands or mediation statements for cases. Knowledge of Word, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat is needed.
