Job Title: Senior Manager: Business Development

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager: Business Development is tasked with providing strategic direction and aiding in the implementation of client-expansion and new business development activities for the law firm's Insurance, Funds, and Asset Management industries. Key responsibilities include:

Business Plans & Infrastructure:
- Collaborate with leadership to support industry, product, and client-focused business development activities.
- Assist in implementing strategic plans and approaches for key client and market penetration and expansion programs.
- Develop client-facing relationships with peer-level administrative commercial contacts at key clients.
- Develop and support the implementation of key initiatives, such as business plans, client satisfaction reviews, and lawyer training.
- Collaborate with department leadership and industry leaders to develop annual budgets supporting initiatives outlined in business plans or by leadership.
- Manage day-to-day responsibilities to ensure alignment with the firm's strategic efforts and exceptional client service.
- Manage communications and interactions with industry groups and assigned teams.
- Provide tactical and strategic input on the onboarding and integration of lateral lawyers.

Business Development & Profile Raising:
- Develop and support the implementation of key business development initiatives, including client targeting and campaigns, client satisfaction, seminars, and networking events.
- Engage in research, analysis, and competitive intelligence-gathering.
- Support the collection and maintenance of CRM-based contact and other data for marketing planning and mailing lists.
- Support the coordination of business development training for lawyers.

Pitches, Proposals & Marketing Materials:
- Provide strategy and manage responses to RFPs and develop written proposals and presentation materials for assigned industries and teams.

Local Office Support:
- Provide support for seminars, sponsorships, and other events and initiatives pursued by the firm in the local office.
- Support the onboarding and integration of lateral lawyers.

Other:
- Supervise and mentor junior team members providing strategic and tactical marketing support to key client initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet firm goals and objectives.

Education and Experience Information:

Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- A secondary degree (., Master’s degree, ., ., or .) is preferred.

Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 8 years of demonstrated success in a marketing and/or business development-related position, preferably in professional services (law, accounting, consulting) or a comparable position in corporate, trade association, or academic sectors.

Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Proficiency with scheduling and participating in video conferences in a professional setting.

Management Accountabilities:
- Assist with managing performance appraisals, compensation, goal setting, and performance counselling for junior team members.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
- Operational budget analysis and recommendations.
- Conduct staffing level analysis and participate in the recruitment process.
- Implement change processes to improve workflow efficiencies.
- Process- and service-oriented with strong leadership and project management skills.
- Able to set priorities and delegate efficiently.

Physical Requirements:
- May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
- May require travel to other offices as needed.

Salary Information:

The typical pay scale for this position is between $166,200 and $219,800, although the actual wage or salary could vary based on the candidate’s education, experience, skills, and internal pay alignment.
