Job Title: Paralegal (Real Estate) - Hybrid Opportunity
Job Responsibilities:
As a real estate paralegal at the law firm, you will assist attorneys in all facets of commercial and residential real estate transactions. Your duties will encompass documentation, due diligence, closing, and post-closing activities for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. You will be part of the law firm's real estate department, reporting to the attorneys on your team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Ordering and reviewing title commitments, exception documents, and surveys, and interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Negotiating title policies, endorsements, surveys, and zoning reports.
- Preparing and administering contract critical dates and closing checklists.
- Coordinating and assisting with all aspects of closings, including the preparation of conveyance documents, closing statements, and other closing documents.
- Formatting documents to meet recording requirements, including signature and notary blocks.
- Handling closings for Condo/Co-op properties and transfers of properties held in trusts.
- Attending to all post-closing requirements, which will require you to prepare closing indices, prepare and organize closing binders, and monitor all post-closing deliveries and requirements.
- Performing entity formation and dissolution.
- Preparing clear and concise correspondence and memoranda.
- Preparing initial draft documents, amendments to agreements or leases, and miscellaneous documents, including estoppel certificates, SNDAs, and Memos of Lease for attorney review.
- Reviewing organizational and authority documents.
- Ordering UCC Lien and other searches.
- Transactional experience is a plus.
Education and Experience Information:
- 6-10 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions, including experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing.
- Experience working with transactional teams.
- Law firm and in-house experience will be considered.
- Significant New York-specific title and survey experience, including review of title commitments and surveys, review and analysis of easements, declarations, REA's, and other exception documents, and preparation and negotiation of title objection letters.
- A Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, or similar mail and calendar technology.
- Legal research skills and knowledge of relevant databases.
- Strong writing, organizational, and communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and legal terminology.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this role is $95,000-$150,000 annually, based on a 40-hour work week. This range is applicable for jobs performed in New York. The salary is determined in good faith and reflects what the law firm believes it would pay for this role at the time of posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will depend on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
