Associate Counsel - Texas, REMOTE
Job Responsibilities:
The Associate Counsel at the company will be responsible for defending lawsuits filed in Texas courts and other first-party insurance defense cases. The key duties include:
- Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
- Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims department.
- Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, which includes depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath.
- Defending all matters assigned, through trial or dispositive hearing, as applicable.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctor degree is required.
- Admission to the Texas Bar is mandatory.
- The candidate must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Texas and meet and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable.
- The position requires 2-6+ years of related field litigation experience in insurance, defense, and/or personal injury.
- Preferred qualifications include civil litigation experience and insurance defense-related litigation experience.
Additional Requirements:
- The candidate must be able to travel as required, including attending trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.
- The ability to document files in a clear, concise, and professional written manner is necessary.
- The candidate must be capable of following complex instructions, resolving conflicts, and facilitating conflict resolution.
- Strong organizational, priority-setting, and multi-tasking skills are required.
- The candidate must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
- Professional communication skills, both in person and via telephone or written correspondence/email, are essential.
Salary Information:
The annual salary for the Associate Counsel position ranges from $104, to $175,. Multiple factors are considered to determine the final salary offered to the selected candidate, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s work experience, education, training, work location, market, and business considerations.
