Job Title: Plaintiff Personal Injury Paralegal / Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage case files and maintain deadlines using case management software.
- Timely open claims with insurance companies and gather necessary investigation documentation.
- Draft initial claim-opening letters to insurers and subrogation entities.
- Obtain and review police reports, incident reports, and witness statements.
- Order and review medical records and bills.
- Request, organize, and review medical bills from healthcare providers.
- Assist in preparing demand letters and settlement packages, including preparing demand exhibits.
- Receive, review, and process incoming mail and faxes daily.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates, collect medical treatment information, and answer non-legal questions.
- Empathize with clients dealing with trauma, pain, or loss, and provide support with professionalism and discretion.
- Communicate with medical providers/subrogation companies regarding claim status and settlements.
- Obtain and review updated subrogation liens throughout the pendency of the clients’ claims up until settlement.
- Maintain regular follow-up with clients to ensure timely updates and case progression.
- Follow up as necessary on incomplete records, missing signatures, or unclear communications to ensure the case file is complete and current.
- Manage attorney calendar and scheduling appointments.
- Organize litigation documents and timely calendar due dates for litigation.
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic legal files.
- E-file litigation pleadings.
- Comply with ethical and professional standards under attorney supervision.
Education and Experience Information:
- 2+ years of experience in plaintiff personal injury law preferred.
- Familiarity with litigation procedures and court filing systems is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software (., Filevine, Actionstep, or similar).
- Strong multitasking and time management abilities.
Salary Information:
- Pay: $40, - $55, per year.
- The minimum salary is $40K and the max salary is $55K.
- $48K/yr Median.
