Here is a really strong Texas firm that gets extremely high marks for both lifestyle concerns and the type of work offered. Here, it is not unusual for associates who have been admitted to the bar for less than a couple of months to get actual experience and responsibility for trying cases. Additionally, associates working in the firm also appear to have a real affinity to each other. Associates at the firm praise the training this firm offers and almost universally have told us that the firm "gives as much responsibility as its associates can handle." In many respects, this firm is an ideal place to work. With a low partner/associate ratio there are genuine opportunities for associates to make partner, and the firm is consistently fairly open with its associates about their opportunities for advancement. The firm was founded less than 50 years ago by attorneys who wanted to ensure that they built a firm which had a real openness to associates from different backgrounds and also maintained a collegial and cooperative atmosphere. Whatever management was aiming to do here, it is certain that this has been a real success for the attorneys who are part of this firm. Some associates in this firm note that compensation is not as high as many competing Dallas firms; however, the firm is honest and upfront with its associates that the reasons for the lower salaries are due to the fact that the firm is not as large as its competitors. For many associates working in this firm, the fact that salaries are not that high does not appear to be a paramount concern. Quality of life, the fact that attorneys and staff get along very well and the fact that for most attorneys this is just a plain super place to work seem to be the motivator for most attorneys to join this firm and stay here. As an indication of the firm's emphasis on people, associates interviewing with this firm are often taken around and introduced to the firm's entire staff of both attorneys and support personnel. This type of atmosphere, and the fact that there appears to be so much cooperation between everyone here makes this firm a strong contender for leading Dallas attorneys.
