Job Title: Research Services Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The Research Services Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of research service delivery within the law firm, serving over 1,600 lawyers and staff. Key responsibilities include the virtual management and mentoring of the Research Services Team and working cooperatively through a centralized research request tracking platform. The essential duties include:
- Ensuring successful management of staffing and scheduling needs for the Research Services Team.
- Developing and administering performance expectations and standard workflow processes.
- Monitoring and administering research request assignments through the Quest tracking system, supervising complex research tasks, providing resource and research strategy recommendations, and performing quality control to ensure consistency and timeliness.
- Identifying opportunities for professional growth and providing mentorship for team members.
- Generating and presenting regular reports on research activities, including metrics on service delivery and client satisfaction.
- Collaborating with the Research Services management team to identify and implement best practices in legal research to enhance service delivery and efficiency.
- Working collaboratively with other teams in the Knowledge Management & Innovation Department to support departmental goals.
- Leading effectively and communicating high-quality research solutions with exemplary customer service.
- Ensuring compliance with firm policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices in all research activities.
- Remaining current on technological enhancements for research services, participating in testing and evaluating new tools, and advising on the cancellation or reduction of existing tools.
- Providing training and updates to the team on new product developments and enhancements.
- Participating in professional associations and encouraging team participation in professional programs and events.
- Promoting and upholding the highest professional and customer service standards.
- Maintaining confidential information.
- Traveling as required and providing after-hours and weekend coverage as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The position requires extensive knowledge of legal research tools, databases, and methodologies, along with strong legal research skills and proficiency in using legal research databases and tools. Other key skills and abilities include:

Education and Experience:
Candidates for the Research Services Manager position are required to have:
- A Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- A minimum of seven years of experience in legal research.
- A minimum of three years in a leadership or management role.
Salary Information:
The hiring salary range for the Research Services Manager position is between $150, and $170,. Compensation is dependent on factors such as position, location, education, training, and experience.
