Job Title: Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Managing client communication through email, mail, and phone
- Coordinating calendars and scheduling meetings
- Organizing and managing both physical and electronic documents
- Drafting and editing cover letters, correspondence emails, pleadings, and various legal documents
- Filing pleadings, legal documents, and deeds
- Electronically filing pleadings in state and federal court in Nebraska, with a preference for experience in Iowa
- Managing various deadlines
- Conducting legal research
- Creating electronic and physical estate planning binders, trial binders, minute books, etc.
- Reporting to leading attorney(s)
- Answering incoming calls
- Processing client expenses
- Assisting in client meetings
- Printing, copying, faxing, and scanning documents as needed
- Managing incoming and outgoing mail
- Communicating with opposing counsel, client advisors, former client attorneys, etc.
- Managing matter and client follow-ups
- Greeting clients in person
- Performing other job-related duties as needed to help drive the vision, mission, and values of the law firm
Skills/Abilities:
- Familiarity with legal terminology
- Experience with transactional law
- Attention to detail

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a legal setting
- Experience using electronic software
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times
