Job Responsibilities
The Supervising Attorney is tasked with managing the attorneys and employees of the Alabama Division of the law firm. The primary clientele includes mortgage lenders and servicers, banks, and other mortgage investors across the region. This role encompasses supervisory duties, ensuring compliance with FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and loan servicer/investor guidelines. The position involves developing, forecasting, and managing the department's annual P&L. Key responsibilities include providing legal and operational oversight for the judicial foreclosure process within Alabama. The Supervising Attorney will leverage expert legal knowledge to manage litigation processes on behalf of National Lending Institutions, focusing on mortgage foreclosures and the defense of clients in complex civil litigation cases. This includes case management strategy, client exposure mitigation, and ensuring compliance. The role also involves actively managing and developing existing and potential business.

Specific duties include:
- Attending mediations, trials, and hearings, along with other assigned duties.
- Being accountable for legal, risk mitigation, and cost control while maintaining compliance with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Office of Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
- Collaborating with executive management, senior leadership, and team members across various departments such as Bankruptcy, Litigation, Title, REO, Human Resources, Accounting, and IT to ensure operational and legal compliance.
- Managing attorneys and paralegals.
- Developing departmental policies, procedures, and goals.
- Traveling as needed.
- Working well with all group members.
- Writing articles and making presentations to clients and trade associations.
- Participating in marketing initiatives and business development.
- Managing and prioritizing multiple projects and cases.
- Assisting with other duties and special projects as needed.

Education and Experience Information
The candidate must have a JD from an accredited law school and be licensed in Alabama. It is preferred for the candidate to also be licensed in Georgia and Tennessee. A minimum of eight years of litigation/courtroom experience and default management is required, covering areas such as foreclosure, title, bankruptcy, evictions, and REO. The candidate must be a member of the state Bar and maintain all necessary licensing and continuing legal education requirements. The role demands a subject matter expert in their field and experience managing employees and P&L responsibility.
