Job Title: Senior Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide support to attorneys specializing in litigation matters, including cases in federal and state courts as well as arbitration.
- Handle ECF/PACER filings, including e-filings, with expertise.
- Perform cite checking of briefs including formatting of case pursuant to state court procedures and/or the Bluebook with mastery.
- Draft routine legal documents such as routine correspondence, Certificates of Service, discovery requests, and Subpoenas with mastery.
- Communicate and coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, co-counsel, and court personnel regarding filings, depositions, and discovery matters.
- Assist with all stages of litigation, including discovery, litigation holds, document collection, reviewing and summarizing documents, managing document databases in coordination with Litigation Support, preparing privilege logs, and creation of witness binders.
- Manage relationships with supporting vendors with support of the Firm Litigation Support Team. Knowledge of e-discovery and software is required. Interact positively with internal departments (IT and Litigation Support) and external vendors regarding electronic data, conversions, and creation of databases.
- Conduct complex legal and factual research. Analyze, summarize, and compile timelines and reports regarding findings.
- Assist with preparation for depositions, including database and hardcopy reviews of discovery materials, preparation of witness files per attorney instruction, organize, prepare, and manage exhibits. Organize and summarize/digest deposition transcripts and prepare errata sheets.
- Prepare and file legal documents at the direction of and under supervision of attorneys, including appendices and exhibits, conduct cite and fact checking.
- Proofread filings. May require research, as well as drafting and editing certain litigation pleadings, including removal papers, notices, proposed orders, and discovery materials.
- Provide trial support and attendance, including preparing and organizing exhibits, preparing deposition designations, organizing witness outlines, and facilitate and support trial logistics.
- Maintain case calendar, pleadings, correspondence, and related case documents.
- Record billable and non-billable activities consistent with Firm requirements.
- Other projects and duties as assigned by supervisors.
Education and Experience Information:
- College degree, four-year degree preferred.
- 3 – 5 years paralegal experience working on litigation matters.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Outlook, and some familiarity with MS Excel.
- Experience with Westlaw, LexisNexis, and Pacer.
- An ability to quickly learn how to effectively use other software applications, such as InterAction, Hot Docs, and litigation document management software.
- Strong interpersonal skills; communicates with courtesy and tact.
- Demonstrates excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to think and work independently and carry out assignments to completion with minimum instructions, handle confidential information, adhere to prescribed routines and practices, maintain records, and to make reports requiring accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills; detail-oriented; and exhibits excellent punctuality.
- Dependable, responsive, able to work a flexible schedule, and able to work overtime if needed. Some travel may be required.
Salary Information:
- The anticipated annual pay range for this role is $70,000 to $120,000 (Non-exempt). The actual offered pay rate will be determined based on various factors, including qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and internal equity considerations.
