Job Title: Patent Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Patent Paralegal at the law firm will manage client portfolios, specifically focusing on filings and correspondence related to both US, PCT, and foreign prosecutions for assigned clients. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing, revising, and filing prosecution documents for US and PCT applications.
- Corresponding with foreign associates about all aspects of foreign prosecution.
- Timely reporting of official correspondence regarding US and foreign prosecution.
- Supporting various intellectual property attorneys to provide excellent client service.
- Drafting formality documents and attending to document legalization when necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with priority document requirements.
- Reviewing and maintaining a docket of associated deadlines for assigned clients.
- Timely reporting of official communications to clients and foreign associates.
- Consistently achieving a 1500 billable hour requirement, which includes approved non-billable time.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and prioritization skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be highly adaptable, proactive, and possess strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft products and comfort with technology are essential. The ability to work independently and in a team environment is required, along with strong customer service orientation and effective oral and written communication skills to interact with personnel and clients at all levels.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in international, PCT, and US prosecution is required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a college degree and/or a paralegal certificate from a school approved by the ABA is preferred.
- Candidates residing in California must meet the requirements to be a Paralegal as defined by the State of California.
- Thorough knowledge of patent procedural requirements of USPTO practices is required.
Salary Information:
The law firm provides salary ranges for all positions to support transparency and equity in the workplace. The figures below represent the full compensation range for the Patent Paralegal position. The actual offered amount will be between the range minimum and midpoint based on factors such as education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity:
- Milwaukee, Detroit, Madison & Salt Lake City: $75,200 - $105,300
- San Diego, Denver, Chicago, Dallas & Houston: $82,700 - $115,800
- Los Angeles: $86,300 - $120,800
- Boston, New York & Washington DC: $89,900 - $125,900
- Silicon Valley & San Francisco: $94,100 - $131,700
