Job Title: Business Paralegal

Job Responsibilities:

The Business Paralegal at the law firm plays a vital role in supporting attorneys in their daily activities, ensuring the smooth functioning of legal operations. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Preparing a variety of supporting legal documents related to the attorneys' area of responsibility. This includes proofreading and spell-checking all documents to ensure accuracy.
- Conducting legal research to gather relevant case law, statutes, and regulations, thereby contributing to informed decision-making.
- Maintaining and organizing both electronic and physical files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Managing attorney calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings to optimize time management and efficiency.
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel in a professional and courteous manner, reflecting the positive ethos of the firm.
- Preparing and filing legal documents with courts and administrative agencies, upholding the firm’s commitment to accuracy and teamwork.
- Assisting in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and preparing witness materials to ensure readiness for court proceedings.
- Reviewing and proofreading documents for accuracy and consistency, providing administrative support such as answering phone calls, managing emails, and handling office tasks as needed.
- Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and adhering to ethical standards, demonstrating a commitment to the firm's positive values and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
- Performing other duties as required, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the legal team.

Education and Experience Information:

Candidates for the Business Paralegal position should possess:

- The equivalent of a high school education plus two or more years of on-the-job legal experience. Alternatively, candidates may have a bachelor’s degree or have successfully completed the Certified Legal Assistant examination.
- Excellent spelling and grammatical skills are essential for preparing and reviewing legal documents.
- Proficiency in legal research tools, enabling effective gathering and analysis of legal information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems, ensuring efficient handling of documentation and communication.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures, facilitating effective support for attorneys and legal processes.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational ability with attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in legal documentation and processes.
- The ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner, maintaining trust and integrity.
- A professional demeanor and the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues in a respectful manner.
- Capability of maintaining regular attendance, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
- Strong time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- The ability to work independently with limited required direction and guidance on complex projects, showcasing initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Compliance with local health regulations, passing a post-offer drug test, and passing a post-employment physical exam if required.
