Job Title: Immigration Paralegal II
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with Attorneys in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration and nationality law matters.
- Lead in email and phone client communications under the direction of Senior Paralegal/Attorney.
- Provide guidance to assignees regarding proprietary systems and case processing.
- Develop an increased understanding of client communication procedures and requirements.
- Input client services rendered and send to Accounting for processing.
- Demonstrate complete competence of case types previously handled and continually strive to advance and broaden knowledge base; show increasing levels of independence in case handling.
- Process more advanced and varied corporate immigration cases.
- Evaluate cases, relay concerns, and proactively escalate to the appropriate team members.
- Prepare forms, letters, documents, and correspondence for attorney review; adapt tools and resources for casework that deviates from templates; increase knowledge of best practices.
- Manage the status of all filed applications and petitions and finalize documents after attorney review.
- Utilize document and data management systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of client casework as per policy.
- Prepare internal caseload reports for management.
- Share process flow with assignees; identify problematic cases and discuss strategies and/or solutions with Attorney.
- Perform research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc.
- Initiate contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information; alert Senior Paralegal and/or attorney regarding potential process delays/problems.
Education and Experience Information:
- 2+ years of . corporate immigration experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree; 1-year law-related experience under a licensed attorney; or Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- Comfortable and able to thrive in an extremely high-volume environment.
- Demonstrates sound judgment.
- Ability to execute and work well with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to catch errors and correct work and the work of others.
- Superior client service skills.
- Effectively able to prioritize cases, caseload, and other assigned tasks.
- Ability to meet deadlines and goals.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Scan/Copy; ability to learn, apply, and effectively navigate daily use of proprietary software.
Salary Information:
- In accordance with New York City’s Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this position in New York is between $74,600 and $79,300.
- Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
