This position offers a competitive salary range of $60,000-$95,000, depending on qualifications and experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
We are a progressive and entrepreneurial firm, committed to diversity, public service, and excellence in all aspects of our work. As a Billing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely billing for our clients, while adhering to our firm's policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process a high volume of bills each month, including complex bills with split party billing and multiple discounts.
- Familiarize yourself with special fee arrangements for clients and act as a resource to billing professionals.
- Create and maintain accurate billing instructions for each client and billing professional.
- Review client and matter setup for accuracy and consistency.
- Edit pre-bills according to billing professional instructions and client guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with billing professionals, assistants, and clients to solve any issues that arise during the billing process.
- Actively listen to issues raised by billing professionals and offer solutions to the Lead Billing Specialist.
- Clearly articulate the firm's billing policies, including write-offs and carry forwards.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable to ensure timely capture of all costs.
- Troubleshoot with Collections to resolve billing issues resulting in payment problems.
- Create billing schedules and analyses as needed.
- Assist with special billing projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of legal billing experience.
- Self-starter with a focus on providing excellent client service.
- Able to quickly grasp processes and procedures.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Active listening skills and a structured approach to problem-solving.
- Adaptable to different work styles and changing circumstances.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work well under pressure and stay focused on tasks.
- Good judgment and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Familiarity with billing systems such as Aderant or Elite.
- Experience with e-billing.
- Proficient in basic math, spelling, and grammar.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow instructions.
