Job Title: Business Development Specialist (Finance Practices)
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop concise and actionable business development and marketing plans.
- Collaborate with practice group and industry group leaders on a broad range of business development and marketing strategies.
- Implement business development and marketing plans for assigned practice and industry groups, ensuring effective communication and budget management.
- Draft and maintain creative practice group marketing materials, including practice group descriptions, bios, and website content. This includes writing customized content for pitches and RFPs.
- Conduct competitive intelligence and research on prospective targets, industry sub-sectors, markets, and conflicts using firmwide resources.
- Plan and execute marketing events and sponsorship activities to raise the firm's profile.
- Participate in key industry networks to identify partnership opportunities that enhance the firm's or practice groups' market position.
- Complete timely submissions to directories and ranking authorities to maximize rankings in preferred publications like Chambers & Partners.
- Produce client development seminars and identify speaking and sponsorship opportunities.
- Assist practice and industry groups and individual partners in preparing for client pitches, track results, and analyze strategies to increase effectiveness.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
- At least four years of relevant experience in professional services marketing, with a preference for law firm experience.
- Working knowledge of the Finance, Private Equity, or Asset Management industries desired, with direct work experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of core marketing principles, including innovative tools and programs, competitive intelligence, market research, and pitch and RFP responses.
- High degree of motivation, responsibility, accountability, and responsiveness.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to focus written materials for impact on general business, legal, and niche populations.
- Excellent attention to detail in writing, copy editing, researching, and data management.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and capability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to recognize marketing and business development opportunities and pursue them strategically.
- Ability to quickly assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions, including drawing clear conclusions from diverse data.
- Talent for creating client satisfaction and demonstrated ability to focus on client value in all work.
Salary Information:
- New York salary range: $80,000 to $112,000
- Boston salary range: $76,000 to $106,000
Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health and welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The salary range may vary based on factors including local market data, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.
