Job Title: Presuit Paralegal, Personal Injury
Job Responsibilities:
- Engage in daily interaction with existing and potential clients, both via telephone and in person, to provide necessary assistance and updates on their cases.
- Order and manage medical records from healthcare providers, ensuring effective communication with both clients and providers throughout the course of treatment.
- Obtain essential documents that support injury and/or liability positions, crucial for case development.
- Interact with insurance carriers and healthcare providers to acquire records and account balances, facilitating the smooth processing of cases.
- Negotiate case settlements with insurance carriers and work on reducing outstanding medical balances with providers to benefit the client.
- Collaborate directly with multiple coworkers involved in the management and support of case files, ensuring a cohesive and well-coordinated workflow.
- Maintain organized case files to ensure all necessary information is readily accessible and up-to-date.
- Prepare comprehensive demands and assemble supporting documents for submission to insurance carriers, aiming for favorable resolutions.
- Interact with attorneys to present case synopses when required, aiding in the strategic planning and execution of case management.
- Manage case files from intake to closing under the direction of an attorney, ensuring all procedural and legal requirements are met.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the business, showcasing flexibility and adaptability.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, providing a solid educational foundation for the role.
- Prior experience as a Personal Injury Presuit Paralegal or Case Manager is preferred, indicating familiarity with the specific demands of the position.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a legal position or as an insurance adjuster is preferred, highlighting relevant industry knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrated negotiating skills are crucial for effectively managing settlements and interactions with insurance carriers and providers.
- Ability to be a team player and follow procedures is essential for seamless integration into the established workflow and achieving departmental goals.
- Proactive interaction with clients, insurance companies, and medical providers is necessary to drive case progress and client satisfaction.
- Must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized with the capacity to juggle multiple deadlines, reflecting the ability to manage competing priorities successfully.
- Strong writing and communication skills, along with attention to detail, are imperative for accurate documentation and effective client and colleague interactions.
- Extensive computer and database expertise, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and a typing speed of at least 35 words per minute, is required for efficient case management.
