Paralegal, Family Law Group The candidate will be preparing pleadings, briefs, Orders to Show Cause, subpoenas, appeals, legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys. Efficiently but effectively organizing and maintaining client and other files and documents in paper and electronic filing systems. Preparing for court hearings/trials by issuing subpoenas, organizing exhibits, and assisting with other tasks as needed. Investigating facts and using case law and public records and other resources to prepare cases and determine causes of action, including gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes, documents, and other data. Directing and coordinating law office day-to-day administrative activity, including delivery of subpoenas. Keeping the law diary/calendar up-to-date by monitoring court dates, adjournments, and court conflicts.
The candidate should have 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal or other legal field - Family law experience. Familiarity with legal research. Ability to review and organize numerous documents. Ability to prioritize client matters by level of importance and time sensitivity. Proactive, problem-solving attitude and strong work ethic without extensive supervision; ability to effectively and efficiently manage numerous cases and projects under time-sensitive deadlines. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with an acute ability to listen attentively and communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization. Proficiency and high aptitude with computer skills, including experience using: MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and case management software.
