Job Title: Senior Counsel, Procurement Contracts
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Counsel for Procurement Contracts is responsible for providing comprehensive legal support primarily related to supplier contracts, disputes, and compliance matters within the company. The position involves collaboration with the Global Procurement group and other corporate function teams. Key responsibilities include:
- Counseling procurement managers on risks and legal issues associated with direct and indirect goods and services within a multi-national technology and information analytics company.
- Providing timely legal advice and responding to client requests regarding supplier contracts, contract law, disputes, and regulatory and compliance matters.
- Drafting, negotiating, and recommending revisions to contract language and suggesting improvements to contract templates and workflows.
- Offering practical guidance related to contractors and third-party service providers including major banks, financial institutions, consulting firms, and recruitment agencies.
- Supervising supplier-related disputes, terminations, bankruptcies, and other supplier matters.
- Addressing routine issues and coordinating more complex matters with specialized counsel in areas such as compliance, employment, intellectual property, and privacy.
- Coordinating with in-house counsel colleagues in foreign jurisdictions for single-division procurement contracts and matters.
- Assisting in corporate or division-wide initiatives and special projects.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Senior Counsel position are expected to have:
- An excellent academic record with a law degree from a respected law school.
- Proven legal experience practicing procurement and technology law, preferably within a corporate law department or with multi-national corporations.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations is essential.
- IAPP certification is recommended.
- Proven skills in contract drafting and negotiation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients worldwide.
- The ability to identify, prioritize, and analyze issues quickly and provide legally sound recommendations.
- Strong conflict management skills and the ability to influence without coercion.
- The capability to work independently, take ownership, and effectively resolve problems.
