H2: Responsibilities of a Docket Coordinator

As a Docket Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our legal team. Your responsibilities will include:

- Monitoring court filings, extracting critical dates, and updating docketing systems.
- Maintaining the integrity of the docketing system and ensuring quality assurance of all deadlines.
- Identifying complex requests and assigning cases based on team expertise.
- Recording and tracking critical dates in CourtAlert and calculating procedural deadlines.
- Conducting legal research on court rules, case statuses, and court orders.
- Assisting in developing training materials and best practices for the docketing department.
- Providing recommendations to enhance legal knowledge, processes, and procedures.
- Training new staff and supporting ongoing development of docketing team members.
- Partnering with attorneys, paralegals, and vendors to obtain court files and ensure accurate docketing.
- Generating specialized docket reports and sending timely reminders of upcoming court appearances.
- Liaising with courts and administrative offices to confirm rules and procedures.

H2: Qualifications for a Docket Coordinator

To be successful as a Docket Coordinator at McGuireWoods, you should have the following qualifications:

- A combination of college-level training or a paralegal certificate with relevant experience demonstrating the ability to perform essential job functions.
- A minimum of five years' experience in litigation docketing, calendaring, or a legal support role with docket responsibilities.
- Proficiency in CourtAlert (or similar docketing software), PACER, LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local court rules and procedures, with the ability to accurately calculate deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate in a virtual environment and interact with all organizational levels.
- The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- A professional demeanor with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to supporting the firm and its legal teams.
