Senior Billing Specialist
Job Responsibilities
The Senior Billing Specialist is responsible for preparing and distributing accurate pre-bills, invoices, and standard analysis/reports. This role involves daily interaction with billing attorneys, secretaries, and clients of the law firm. Key responsibilities include:
- Processing client bills using Aderant software.
- Researching and answering billing questions effectively.
- Reviewing pre-bills to generate accurate invoices and encourage cyclical billing practices according to requests by attorneys and secretaries.
- Regularly following up on unbilled accounts to ensure all functions are completed on time and at high service levels.
- Anticipating and troubleshooting issues from the perspective of policy, personnel/attorneys, and clients.
- Submitting electronic invoices using EbillingHub and managing the process from start to finish.
- Creating ad hoc reports for attorneys as needed.
- Providing mentorship to Billing Specialists, Billing Assistants, and Billing Clerks.
- Undertaking special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information
The position requires a , preferably within a large legal services or professional services organization. Additionally, candidates should have:
- 5+ years of experience in a Legal Billing Specialist role.
- Knowledge of effective legal billing procedures and computerized legal billing systems, specifically Aderant Expert, and electronic online billing applications such as EbillingHub, Legal Tracker, T360, and Mitratech Collaborati, is a plus.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong typing/keyboard skills and the ability to use a 10-key calculator by touch.
- Ability to self-direct, prioritize tasks, and work with minimum supervision with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly desired organizational skills, attention to detail, and the willingness to work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
Salary Information
The California pay range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000, with the final offer amount dependent on the candidate's skillset and experience.
