Job Title: KM Research Analyst

Job Responsibilities:
The KM Research Analyst is a vital member of the Knowledge Management Department at the law firm. The primary responsibility involves conducting sophisticated legal and non-legal research to fulfill firm-wide reference and research requests from attorneys, administration, and staff. Key duties include:

- Monitoring workflow and responding to and completing department requests efficiently.
- Providing comprehensive legal and business research utilizing a variety of online and print resources, with a proper understanding and use of AI tools.
- Conducting high-level substantive legal research, including precedent document searching, expert witness research, legislative histories, judge research, and docket and litigation analytics and searching.
- Creating targeted, custom alerts to monitor developments in the law, docket tracks, and litigation searches.
- Communicating research results precisely and intelligently to the requestors.
- Offering general support for KM tools and resources, such as Westlaw Precision, Practical Law, and AI Tools.

Additional responsibilities may include working on special projects like collection development as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. A Master’s in Library & Information Science or a JD is considered a plus.
- A minimum of three years of legal and business research experience in a legal, corporate, or professional services environment is required.
- Experience using AI tools is considered a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The candidate must possess thorough and advanced knowledge of legal research and general business research methodology.
- Proficiency in using online resources, including AI functionality within tools, is necessary. These resources include Westlaw Precision/Practical Law with AI modules, Bloomberg Law, PACER, and other web-based services, including IP, corporate and securities research tools, and the Microsoft suite of products.
- The ability to synthesize relevant information needed for high-level decision-making is crucial.
- Excellent communication skills, with a particular emphasis on written communication, are required.
- The ability to multitask, manage time effectively, establish priorities, respond to emergencies, and interact with individuals with patience and diplomacy is essential.
- Maintaining a service-oriented attitude and remaining poised under pressure is important.
- The candidate should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The role operates in a clerical, office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The physical requirements include:

- Sedentary work, involving exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds.
- The job involves sitting most of the time, but walking and standing are often necessary to carry out job duties.
- Close visual acuity is required for activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
