Job Title: IP Docket Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The IP Docket Specialist is responsible for ensuring quality control over all statutory Trademark deadlines that are added to or removed from the law firm's IP Management System. This role requires collaboration with the IP Docket Manager to create and implement training materials and execute training plans. The specialist is tasked with maintaining assigned Trademark docket portfolios in accordance with established policies and procedures. They perform job functions related to the review of documents and maintain discretion and confidentiality in contacts with clients, attorneys, and staff regarding docket-related matters. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting accurate and timely quality control reviews of all US and Non-US statutory Trademark docketing entries for the IP Docket team.
- Assisting in the creation and implementation of new training materials.
- Supporting the development and implementation of new docketing policies and procedures to enhance user service while mitigating risk.
- Managing incoming data quality from transferring-in portfolios and providing specialized care to attorney teams throughout this process.
- Providing back-up for the Docketing Specialists to maintain standard operating procedures as outlined by the firm.
- Offering guidance and addressing docket-related inquiries and issues for the Intellectual Property team, including attorneys and staff.
- Ensuring the docket database is accurately maintained and generating reports as needed or upon request.
- Collaborating closely with Docketing Specialists and team members to achieve the goals of the IP Sections and the firm.
- Maintaining positive contact with attorneys, staff, and clients while ensuring the confidentiality of the Docket Department and the firm’s clients.
- Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of docketing documents received from the USPTO, adhering to requirements set by the Code of Federal Regulations, clients, and all other non-US government agencies or non-US associates.
- Providing detailed, accurate information to IP attorneys and staff regarding client information and deadlines, supporting the effective operations of the Docket Department.
Education and Experience:
Candidates for the IP Docket Specialist position should possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Equivalent specialized training or certification, such as paralegal studies, is beneficial.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive Intellectual Property experience as part of providing necessary quality control to the Docketing department.
- Experience with docket software applications.
- Experience with and a strong understanding of domestic/foreign patent, trademark, and inter-partes matters.
Salary Information:
Compensation for the IP Docket Specialist position is dependent on several factors, such as position, location, education, training, and/or experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $70, - $90,.
