Job Title: Counsel - Personal Risk Services

Job Responsibilities:
The Counsel, Personal Risk Services is primarily responsible for supporting the Personal Lines underwriting business in North America. The individual will advise business clients on regulatory and compliance-related matters for various personal lines products and policies, including homeowners, auto, excess, and recreational marine insurance. Key responsibilities include:

- Communicating effectively with business partners, underwriting, claims professionals, and Legal and Compliance colleagues to provide clear guidance on coverage developments, industry trends, and new exposures in personal lines insurance.
- Drafting contracts and conducting legal reviews of all personal insurance products, such as home, auto, valuable articles, excess, yacht, and cyber insurance.
- Providing general regulatory advice on issues such as cancellation/nonrenewal, personal lines underwriting matters, customer complaints, and confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements.
- Assisting with responses to regulatory criticisms on product filings and regulatory inquiries.
- Conducting legal research on various underwriting-related issues.
- Completing the legal review of marketing material.
- Providing legal support for sales and service units.
- Reviewing and revising new and existing personal lines insurance products, endorsements, contracts, and ancillary documents.
- Reviewing and interpreting applicable federal and state laws and regulations, legislative developments, case decisions, and claims verdicts to provide comprehensive legal advice.

Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited . law school.
- Minimum 1 to 5 years of legal experience. The ideal candidate for this entry-level counsel position should have some insurance (property/casualty; personal lines a plus) or other financial institution regulatory experience and an insurance coverage analysis background, including policy language development.
- Strong research and analytical skills are essential.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication/presentation skills, with the ability to offer advice on complex issues to business professionals at every organizational level.
- Enthusiasm for working in a team-oriented environment, a strong service-oriented disposition, and the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to understand the insurance industry, client needs, and business goals, provide sound consultation, and achieve desired results.
- Proven track record of results, achievement, collaboration, teamwork, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

Salary Information:
The pay range for the role is $113,400 to $192,800. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Company offers a comprehensive benefits package, with more details available on the careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
