Job Title: Benefits Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The Benefits Manager at the law firm is responsible for administering various employee benefits programs such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision insurance, accident and disability insurance, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits. Key responsibilities include conducting benefits orientations, explaining the benefits self-enrollment system, maintaining employee benefits filing systems, and ensuring that benefits changes are accurately entered into the payroll system for payroll deduction. The role also involves assisting employees with health, dental, life, and other related benefit claims, verifying and performing self-invoicing calculations for monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies, and resolving administrative problems with vendor and broker representatives. Additional duties include administering COBRA, reviewing and responding to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation, coordinating workers' compensation claims with a third-party administrator, preparing and setting up meetings to help employees understand company benefits, ensuring the distribution of required employee notices, and preparing and maintaining employee reports and completing benefits reporting requirements. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of experience in employee benefits administration. While not mandatory, professional designations such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS are preferred. Candidates should possess prior knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software is required.
Salary Information:
The base salary for the Benefits Manager position is between $65,000 and $68,000 per year.
Physical Qualifications:
The role requires the ability to lift five pounds or more, sit for 90% of the workday at times, bend at the waist, and be mobile when needed. The ability to read and comprehend position-specific documents and correspondence, communicate verbally and in writing in a common language with individuals or groups, operate a computer, HR software, phone, or equivalent device, and complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule is also necessary.
