Job Title: Director of Inventory Management
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the global strategy for managing inventory, specifically focusing on unbilled time and accounts receivable.
- Oversee the collections lifecycle to ensure timely and effective inventory management across all practice groups.
- Proactively manage unbilled time by client and practice to assess the validity of aging inventory.
- Partner with attorneys, firm leadership, staff, and clients to manage and resolve outstanding balances with professionalism and authority.
- Lead the collections team to enhance the firm’s collections performance while maintaining client relationships in accordance with the firm's standards.
- Develop and enforce policies regarding aged unbilled time, with shared responsibility for management and adherence.
- Act as the primary escalation point for at-risk inventory, working closely with Practice Group Leaders, General Counsel, and clients to resolve high-value or sensitive accounts.
- Collaborate with the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Billing Team to achieve cash flow targets, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide actionable reporting and analysis to Practice Group Leadership and Senior Management.
- Develop and implement collections strategies and policies tailored to individual client needs, industry best practices, and firm priorities.
- Monitor partner compliance with firm policies, client guidelines, and ethical considerations regarding billing and collections.
- Provide training and guidance to Partners and legal staff on best practices for managing client receivables.
- Supervise and mentor collections staff, fostering a client-focused and performance-driven culture.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An advanced degree or MBA is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in collections management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within an AmLaw 100 firm, preferably an AmLaw 20 firm.
- Demonstrated ability to work confidently and diplomatically with Partners, C-suite executives, and sophisticated corporate clients.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and client service skills, with a proven ability to influence outcomes while maintaining strong relationships.
- A strategic mindset with hands-on execution skills.
- Strong understanding of legal billing practices, client guidelines, and accounting principles related to collections and accounts receivable.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
Salary Information:
- New York: Anticipated full-time annualized salary range is $224,000 - $318,000.
- Washington, .: Anticipated full-time annualized salary range is $175,000 - $265,000.
- The salary offer will depend on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
