Job Title: Sr. Systems Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Systems Engineer at the law firm is responsible for the design, deployment, and management of hybrid infrastructure solutions with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure and cloud-first technologies. The candidate must possess deep expertise in Windows Server and Active Directory, hybrid cloud architectures, Azure IaaS/PaaS, infrastructure automation, identity and access management (IAM), and endpoint management. The key responsibilities include:

- Designing, deploying, and managing hybrid infrastructure solutions using Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Azure Files, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Driving automation of infrastructure tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Terraform, Bicep) and Azure-native tools (ARM templates, Azure Automation, Logic Apps).
- Managing and monitoring Windows Server, Linux, VMware, SAN storage, and backup systems both on-premises and in the cloud.
- Leading modernization initiatives, including cloud migration, serverless architecture, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
- Implementing and managing identity services including Entra ID, SSO/SAML integrations, MFA, conditional access, and PKI/certificate management.
- Supporting enterprise-wide security, patch management, compliance, and vulnerability mitigation efforts using Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint, and other modern endpoint management tools.
- Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning of critical systems.
- Participating in after-hours support rotation and planned maintenance windows.
- Providing mentorship and hands-on guidance to junior team members and stakeholders across infrastructure and application teams.
- Maintaining system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and configuration baselines.
- Engaging with vendors and cloud service providers to evaluate new solutions and ensure SLA adherence.
- Contributing to incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of operational workflows.

Education and Experience Information:

- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
- Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, or SC-300 are highly desirable.
- VMware, ITIL, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
- The candidate must have a strong technical ownership and accountability mindset.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required.
- The ability to simplify complex problems and drive outcomes is essential.
- A security-first mindset with experience in compliance frameworks (., ISO 27001, NIST) is important.
- A proactive attitude and passion for staying ahead of technology trends are necessary.

Technical Knowledge:

- Expertise in Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, Storage, Networking, Identity).
- Proficiency in Windows Server administration and hardening (2016, 2019, 2022).
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, Entra ID, Entra Connect.
- Experience with VMware ESXi and virtualization platforms; hyperconverged infrastructure (., Nutanix).
- Familiarity with cloud-native backup/recovery solutions.
- Understanding of SSO/SAML/MFA integration and IAM policy frameworks.
- Skill in PowerShell, Terraform/Bicep (preferred).

Modern Endpoint Management:

- Experience with Intune, Autopilot, and Windows 365.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365/Exchange Online administration.
- Knowledge of Mobile Device Management (MDM).

Process and Operational Competency:

- Experience with ITIL-based change, incident, and problem management.
- A service delivery mindset with strong documentation habits.
- Experience working with vendors, managed service providers (MSPs), and cross-functional teams.

Salary Information:

The position is eligible for overtime: No. The target salary range for this position varies by location and is commensurate with relevant experience:

- Boston: $115,800 - $173,700
- Los Angeles: $121,600 - $182,400
- New York: $121,600 - $182,400
- Philadelphia: $108,800 - $163,300
- San Francisco: $129,700 - $194,500
- Santa Monica: $121,600 - $182,400
- Silicon Valley: $129,700 - $194,500
- Washington DC: $115,800 - $173,700
