Job Title: Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The legal assistant at the law firm plays a pivotal role in supporting litigation attorneys by providing administrative assistance. Key responsibilities include:
- Gathering evidence such as medical records, police reports, and other necessary documents.
- Organizing documents and ensuring they are readily accessible and properly filed.
- Scheduling events, meetings, and court appearances.
- Preparing legal documents including complaints, discovery requests and responses, deposition notices, and subpoenas.
- Coordinating and scheduling with insurance companies, opposing counsel, and the courts.
- Filing pleadings and other essential documents with the court system.
The role requires someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong multi-tasking skills. The legal assistant is expected to ensure that the needs of clients are met and to advocate effectively on their behalf.
Education and Experience Information:
This is an entry-level position, which means no prior experience in the legal field is required. It is designed for individuals looking to enter the legal field and gain an understanding of how the court system operates. The law firm provides training and encourages the professional development of its team members.
Skills required include proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Reliability, exceptional time management skills, the ability to collaborate with a team, and a willingness to do what it takes to be successful for clients are also essential.
While Spanish speaking is not required, it is considered helpful.
Salary Information:
The position offers a base pay of per hour. The minimum and maximum salary is stated as per hour, as per the employer's estimate.
