Job Title: IP Docket Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The IP Docket Specialist at the law firm is responsible for managing all aspects of docketing activities related to Intellectual Property (IP) matters and reports directly to the IP Docket Supervisor. Primary responsibilities include:
- Utilizing IP-specific software (CPi) to calendar and docket all IP-related activities involving patent, trademark, and copyright matters.
- Managing projects related to IP docketing, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
- Adhering to department and firm policies and procedures concerning docketing matters.
- Generating precise and customized reports for attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries as requested.
- Following up with attorneys and paralegals on daily docket report deadlines and clearing dates accordingly.

The ideal candidate for the IP Docket Specialist position should possess:
- Strong substantive knowledge of docketing requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- A proactive and highly motivated attitude.
- The ability to solve problems and work effectively as a team player.
- The capacity to exercise independence and professional judgment in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of US and foreign patent and trademark procedures.
- Familiarity with online IP record systems such as PAIR, ePCT, and TSDR.
- The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Education and Experience Information:
- An Associate’s degree or higher is preferred, or any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- At least 3-5 years of IP Docket experience in a law firm or corporation is preferred.
Computer Skills:
To perform successfully in this role, proficiency in the following software is required:
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with CPi Software is preferred.
Salary Information:
The compensation range for the IP Docket Specialist position is $65,000 to $78,000 per year.
